KIMS Organizes Awareness Program on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

In observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, KIMS organized a comprehensive awareness program to educate students and faculty on the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of prevention. The initiative reflected the institution’s commitment to promoting a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society through education and awareness.

The program featured an informative session by Dr. Abdul Salaam, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry, who delivered an insightful lecture on the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug abuse. He explained how substance addiction can adversely affect an individual’s health, relationships, education, and future while placing a significant burden on families and society. Emphasizing the importance of early intervention, he encouraged students to make informed decisions, resist peer pressure, and seek timely support whenever needed.

The event was attended by Dr. Renu, Vice Principal, KIMS; Dr. Sumeeth, Principal, KIMS Dental College; Dr. Ashok, Principal, KIMS College of Physiotherapy; Mr. Farid Babu, Principal, KIMS College of Allied Health Sciences; and Ms. Swapna, Principal, KIMS Nursing College, along with teaching and supporting faculty members. Their presence underscored the institution’s collective commitment to creating awareness about substance abuse and fostering a safe and healthy learning environment.

The awareness program encouraged meaningful discussions on the importance of prevention, mental well-being, and responsible lifestyle choices among students. Participants gained valuable insights into the long-term impact of drug abuse and the crucial role healthcare professionals play in educating communities and supporting individuals affected by addiction.

Through initiatives like these, KIMS continues to promote health education beyond the classroom, empowering students with the knowledge and values needed to become responsible citizens and compassionate healthcare professionals. The institution remains dedicated to building a healthier future by encouraging informed choices, preventive healthcare, and a strong commitment to a drug-free society.
